Step by step on how to get FREE Mountain LION.

Do you know you can Upgrade your OSX LION to the latest OSX MOUNTAIN LION for FREE?
If you purchased your Mac after 11 June 2012, you are entitled to get a FREE copy of OSX Mountain Lion from Apple Apps Store.

Here's my sharing of how I got mine.

Since there are numerous sites out there that shows you exactly what to do and how to get the OSX Mountain Lion 10.8. So I'm not going to bore you with the details. Just the essence,

After registering your Mac at https://register.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/GlobaliReg.woa and you should have an Apple ID by now. This is important cause if you don't, you will be requested for Proof of Purchase i.e. a Receipt in latter stage and also you can't really register an Apple Product without an Apple ID.

You next proceed to http://www.apple.com/osx/uptodate/ scroll down and choose whichever category your purchase date fall into.

Fill in the next few infos like date-of-purchase, your address as per your Apple ID so on and so forth. And if you registered your mac properly without giving wrong date of purchase or address, it should not ask you for your proof of purchase. At least mine didn't. both of them.

After filling all the forms, you will get this screen confirming your form is already submitted and processing.

Now we wait for the email. It took me 5 hours for the emails. Which looks like the following:

This first email actually comes with an attachment in the form of a locked PDF file that require a long password to unlock.

After downloading the first PDF file, proceed to the 2nd email which look like this.

With the code, unlock your PDF file and you'll be given a REDEEM code for the Mountain Lion.

Now Open your App Store, click on the redeem button

Now enter the redeem code you got from the PDF. Viola!

Enjoy the Mountain Lion.
